On the trail of memory

How does what our parents had to suffer determine our own lives? Even as a young girl, Ewa promised her father that she would accompany him on a trip to his native Poland and finally learn everything about her family. Back then, in 1939, a part of him died there: when the German Wehrmacht invaded the country and he suddenly had to be called Johannes; when he lost his mother, who abandoned him and his father to follow a German. Today, 50 years after the end of the war, Ewa's father hopes that by returning he will be able to heal these wounds that are still eating away at him - and together with his daughter he wants to finally find the place again that seems to exist only in his memory ...
