Elke is never as happy as she is in the spring, at the beginning of the grazing season, when she stands on the Black Forest heights in the morning and looks down on the lights of the distant villages in the Rhine valley. Elke is a shepherdess and - like her mother and grandmother before her - runs the "Lämmerhof". The only downer is the increasing financial difficulties of the family farm. But then not only does Elke's great love unexpectedly return home - Chris, who broke her heart many years ago - but her sister Julia suddenly appears at the door, reluctant Zoe in tow. The girl has fallen into the wrong circles, and social worker Julia wants Elke to take Zoe in at her remote farm - for a fee. No thanks, think both Elke and Zoe. But it soon turns out that the two dissimilar women may not be as dissimilar as they think ...
