The nomad

Idrisa is a Tuareg, one of the "true free people" from the heart of the Sahara. But this life comes to an abrupt end when, in 1418, at the age of 12, he is kidnapped by Henry the Navigator's men and taken to Portugal. But although he lives as a cartographer and illustrator at the Portuguese court, Idrisa cannot forget the desert and the dream of freedom. He desperately tries to escape from his golden cage.

A wonderful novel about the great questions of our time, told in prose of captivating power and urgency.
